You asked I answer. Please see in this FAQ the most frequent questions I receive and my answers.

1 HOW MUCH THE TRANSLATION WILL COST ME?

The translation rate depends on several factors, including the type of document, field, deadline, etc. We can talk about it in a discovery call. I have different offers: document delivery, subscriptions if you need my help on a regular basis, a full day offer if you have a specific 1-day mission. You can also get in touch for a personalised quote.

2 WHAT IS YOUR PROCESS?

  1. First contact by email or discovery call to introduce ourselves, you explain me your needs and I present you my offers and terms of service.
  2. You choose (and pay) your offer and we start working
  3. If your need is punctual, you send me the text to be translated.
  4. I analyse your text and send you a quote (with end of validity) for signature.
  5. You sign the quote and transfer the 1st part of paiement (if asked in the quote).
  6. Translation and sending of questions about the text if any.
  7. Proofreading and reviewing (by myself or a colleague if previously agreed)
  8. Project delivery
  9. Payment.
  10. Feedback from your side (if any) according to what was agreed in terms of schedule and number of requests.

3 DO YOU ACCEPT TO UPDATE/TRANSLATE ADDED CONTENT AFTER DELIVERY?

According to the type of collaboration we have (punctual or regular) a specific number of exchanges (requests of updates) is accepted, cleary mentioned, in a specific timeframe. If this threshold has been reached and that your request of update is out of the timeframe, charges will apply.

3 WHAT ABOUT MACHINE TRANSLATION AND AI? WILL YOU USE A MACHINE OR AN IA TO TRANSLATE MY FILE?

Machine translation is not used for your projects.

A computer assisted translation software might be used as it enables to maintain consistency in the terminology and phraseology throughout your content. It is very useful for technical documentation mainly.

I don’t use AI neither this kind of translation tool for creative translation, copywriting neither for transcreation. I use my own creativity and sources of inspiration.

4 WE USE DeepL /CHAT GPT TO TRANSLATE OUR CONTENT. COULD YOU JUST EDIT AND PROOFREAD?

Yes of course. I can review and edit your content translated with DeepL /Chat GPT. In order to do so, I’ll need the original text in order to check that the meaning was adequately conveyed by the AI.  I have a specific offer for this kind of task. The deadline will depend on the length of the pre-translated content and of the AI output. Meaning, vocabulary errors might need to be spotted and corrected. Your brand tone of voice probably won’t be noticed,  lack of consistency with other content of yours will have to be reversed. If the AI output is very bad, I suggest translating from scratch.

5 I ONLY HAVE A FEW WORDS /1 or 2 SENTENCES THAT NEED TRANSLATED, IT SHOULD BE VERY CHEAP IF WE APPLY A RATE PER SOURCE WORD, IS THAT RIGHT?

For very short volumes, rate per word does not apply. I apply a fee which includes:

-reading your request and the brief if any (sometimes instructions are longer than the content itself)

-project admin, emails that we exchange (confirming, delivery), invoicing

– potential emails with queries about the text, context/ answers

– adapting the content into French

If we regularly work together and if you’ve chosen a subscription, benefit from a special discount on this minimum fee.
