Beyond’s Co-founder and CTO David Kelso was renting out a spare bedroom in his San Francisco apartment to help pay the rent. There was no pricing tool for short-term rentals back then, so he’d just look at how other similar rentals were being priced, set a price, and crossed his fingers.
That’s when he decided to build a tool to dynamically price his listing. He rapidly cultivated a customer base of 25 listings, and within 18 months, he was providing dynamic pricing for 600 of the 3,000 short-term rental listings in his area.
Beyond Pricing was born.
THEIR NEED
We contacted Élodie in 2022. We needed an experienced French linguist who could translate and copywrite. We needed someone experienced in the tourism industry, preferably short-term rental industry. We were willing to pay more for quality. Our aim was to publish translations and original content. Elodie sent us examples of her work that we enjoyed reading through. We wanted an ongoing basis collaboration with a professionnal and good communicator.
MY SOLUTION
Reactivity: I answer fast to order emails and let the team know about my availabilities. As it is a direct and regular collaboration, the communication is very smooth and I always keep some time for the client in my schedule.
I ask queries in an Excel file, providing specific references and assumptions. Whenever I notice a typo, a term or sentence that raises a doubt in the source text I indicate it.
Respect of terminology: I follow the company glossary
I always apply quality assessment process on every project I work on for the client. I generate a bilingual file then a French only file. I use Antidote software to do a grammar, spelling, style and punctuation assessment. Then I read the French only to guaranty completeness and fluid text.
RESULTS
Thanks to Elodie, we have also been able to start building our French-speaking content. We are very happy of her work.We’re not just considered as a client, but as a partner. We like the fact that we are dealing directly with our linguist.
